Megan Anna Rapinoe was born on the 5th of July, 1985. She was born in Redding California. She began to play soccer at the age of a very young child, and her talents improved as she grew older. Rachael's fraternal twin Megan Rapinoe also attended University of Portland. Megan Rapinoe was a star of the university's soccer team being among the best scorers in collegiate women's soccer in the United States. Her team had to suspend soccer in her junior and sophomore years due to a knee injury. It was back to playing soccer full-time as a senior and started all the games that season. She graduated in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in Sociology at Portland's University of Portland. Rapinoe's soccer career began in 2009. Her team was her team, the Chicago Illinois Red Stars from the recently formed Women's Professional Soccer WPS. The team was in existence until it disbanded at the end of 2010. Rapinoe joined in the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Independence for a short time before she was transfered into Boca Raton Florida. In only eight games the Rapinoe scored two goals and helped the MagicJack to finish third in that league. The magicJack disbanded in late 2011 and the WPS was shut down in the early months of 2012. The year 2011 saw Rapinoe play a few matches with Sydney Football Club FC of the Australian W-League before returning to the United States. She next played for in the Seattle Washington Sounders Women now called the Sound FC. Rapinoe lived in France in 2013 during the football season. She joined Seattle Reign FC, now OL Reign in the National Women's Soccer League NWSL that had been formed following the dissolution of WPS. Rapinoe also competed on an international level. In 2012 she was a part of the U.S. Olympic team for soccer for women at London England. Rapinoe played a major role who helped the U.S. women's soccer team win a gold at that Olympics. She scored or assisted several goals which helped the team win. Her second appearance was at the Olympics during the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro Brazil in the year 2016. In 2016, the U.S. squad was eliminated from the event in Rio. She first took part in the FIFA Women's World Cup in the year 2011. Her participation was instrumental in helping the U.S. Women's World Cup achieve successive titles between 2015 and 2019. In 2018, Rapinoe was named cocaptain. Rapinoe has was a goal scorer for United States in the 4-3 victory against Australia at the Olympics bronze medal match at Tokyo in 2020 due to the COVID-19 virus that Japan had to delay until 2021 because of the pandemic was awarded the gold medal at Tokyo in the year 2016.
